Managing the contention between standard delivery (across semesters) and ‘block’ or ‘intensive’ delivery of short courses / ‘student-centric’ timetabling is just one of the topics to be discussed at this year’s ASPRG. As well as panel discussions Curtin University will be asking the question ‘Does size matter: The continuing pressure from the institution to change the way we schedule around size,’ whilst Flinders University will explore the idea of ‘Data, data everywhere: Just how obscene an amount of data are we talking about here? Profane or really offensive. These are just some of the 27 sessions that the ASPRG community can attend.
The conference looks set to bring the community together and once again and further their knowledge and shared learnings.
In 1995 a group of Cyon customers got together to start a peer – support network event for Scientia software users. Now in its 23rd year, the Group has grown from just a handful of universities to more than 95% of all universities in ANZ. The tone of the conference has always been about bringing users together to discuss how they want the software to improve and this continues today as well as promoting best practices and sharing innovation within the community. Plus, it allows fellow Timetablers the opportunity to swap stories from the scheduling frontline.
Each year a different institute bravely host the annual gathering and this year it is with thanks that Western Sydney University has taken up the baton. The agenda is under construction but you can expect presentations from a plethora of institutions covering a wide range of topics including Timetabling, Syllabus Plus/Enterprise and space management. Cyon will be hosting a Bring Your Own Device live workshop session for Syllabus Plus Anywhere.
