The 11th annual Examinations Network Conference was held from the 16-18 August at RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia, exploring the theme: ‘Equitable Assessment – Examinations for students with disabilities’. This year saw a record attendance of over 150 delegates.
Scientia/Cyon had a considerable presence there, enabling us to engage with colleagues involved with exams from institutions across the APAC region. Cyon hosted a one-day training event on Tuesday 16, which consisted of a presentation on Exam Scheduler and an introduction to Exam Management System – our Cloud-based exam solution for tertiary education institutions. On the Thursday, David Hathaway, Scientia’s Product Manager for Exams Solutions, gave a plenary session on Scientia’s Exams Solutions Roadmap.
Richie Teh, Technical Account Manager for Cyon, said: “The Examinations Network Conference is a vital opportunity for us to meet the users of our software and showcase new developments to ensure that we stay at the forefront of exams management in the tertiary education sector. Scientia’s solutions are underpinned by a belief in the importance of inclusivity in education, so the topic was extremely relevant for us. Our solutions make managing the exams process easy for staff and accessible for students.”
The Examinations Network consists of examinations staff from every university in Australia and New Zealand, some TAFE campuses, as well as representatives from Singapore. The Network is quite active and provides an avenue for benchmarking, discussion of issues and best practice. It is administered by members and has an executive group who provide strategy and direction in order to improve the value of the Network. Member universities take it in turn to host the conference each year.
